Polka dot crochet bag - free pattern

Materials:
Sport weight/category 2 yarn in pink approximately 315 meters and black 150 meters
3.25 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
A pair of bag handles

Size.
The square measures about 11 cm x 11 cm'
The bag has a width of 33 cm (13 inches) and height of 38 cm (15 inches) not including the handles

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:
[ ] - Repeat instructions within brackets as a set as many times as directed
** - Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed
st/sts - stitch/stitches
ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
hdc - half double crochet

Instruction

Square (make 18)

Round 1: Using black, make a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as 1st st), 11 dc into ring. Join with a sl st to the top of ch 3. (12 sts)

Round 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a st), 2 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st to 1st dc. (24 dc)

Round 3: Ch 2 (does not count as a st), repeat [dc in next st, 2 dc in next st] around. Join with a sl st to the 1st dc. (36 dc)

Round 4: Join pink, ch 2 (does not count as a st), repeat [dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st] around. Join with a sl st to the 1st dc. (48 dc)

Round 5: Ch 4 (counts as tr), tr and dc in same st, **dc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in 4 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next st, [dc, 2 tr in next st], ch 2, [2 tr, dc] in next st** Repeat from ** to ** around. Join with dc in 4th ch.

Round 6: Ch 5 (counts as dc + ch 2), 2 dc in same space, dc in each st (16 sts), [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in corner ch-2 space. Repeat around, dc in 1st space. Join with a sl st to 3rd ch and fasten off.

Joining the squares

Sew the squares together by joining the outer loops of 2 squares together with their wrong sides out. Join 3 in a row and make 6 rows.

Fold into half and sew the side seams with the wrong side out. After finishing bring the right side out.

Edging

Row 1: Join pink in the ch-1 space at a corner, ch 3, dc in each st (20 sts), dc in ch-1 corner space, dc in ch-1 corner space of the next square, dc in 20 sts, dc in corner ch-1 space, repeat around and you’ll be working 22 sts in each square, so you’ll have a total of 132 sts. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch.

Row 2 to 4: Join black and work dc in each st around. Join and fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in all the loose ends and attach handles.

Medium worsted weight yarn approximately 185 meters

Instruction

Finishing

Weave in all the loose ends of yarn. Sew the cords to the top of the bag on both the sides at equal distance away from both the ends.

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 30 sts, [sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 3 times, sc in next 30 sts, [sc in next st, 2 sc in the next st] 2 times (78 sts)

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each st and in each ch. Join with a sl st to the 1st sc. Cut off yarn. Weave in all the loose ends.

Use sport weight yarn and 2 mm crochet hook

Daisies (make 8)

Round 1: Using yellow make a magic ring, Ch 1, 6 sc into ring. Join with a sl st to 1st sc and fasten off

Round 2: Join white in any st, repeat [sl st, ch 3, 2 tr, ch 3, sl st] in each st. Fasten off and weave in all the loose ends of yarn. 

Ladybugs (make 7)

Round 1: Using red make a magic ring, Ch 1, 6 sc into ring. Do not join.

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. Join with a sl st to 1st sc and fasten off. (12 sc)

To make the head join black in any st, ch 1, 2 hdc in next st, sl st in next st and fasten off leaving a long tail to make the markings on the body. Thread yarn needle through the loose end of yarn and bring the needle to the back side, insert it through the center at the base of the head bring the needle to the front. Bring the needle down making a vertical line at the middle of the red circle, then make tiny dots on the red circle. Fasten off and weave in the loose ends of yarn.  

Finishing

You can glue or sew the appliques to the bag. If you are sewing do it in such a way that the stitches are not visible on the other side by only sewing into the top portion of the sts of the bag and not taking the needle all the way to the back of the bag. Place the appliques as shown in the image.

Instruction:

Round 1: Using 4.5 mm hook and colour A (pink) make 15 ch, sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in the next 12 ch, 3 sc in the last ch, sc in 12 ch on the other side, 2 sc in next ch. Join with a sl st to the 1st sc. (30 sc)

Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 12 sts, 2 sc in next 3 sts, sc in next 12 sts, 2 sc in next 2 sts. Join with a sl st to the 1st sc. (36 sc)

Switch to H/5 mm crochet hook.

Instruction

Round 1: Using colour A, ch 16, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in 11 ch, 5 dc in last ch, dc in 11 ch on the other side, 3 dc in next ch. Join with a sl st to the 1st st (skipped 3 ch at the beginning will count as the 1st st. (32 sts)

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, **ch 2, skip next 3 sts, 5 dc in the next st, ch 2, skip next 3 sts, sc in next st** Repeat from ** to ** 3 more times joining the last ch-2 with a sl st to the sc at the beginning of the round.

Fits a bottle with a diameter at the base of about 8 cm/3 inches

Instruction:

Base

Round 1: Make a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as 1st st), 11 dc into ring. Join with a sl st to the top of 3 ch. (12 sts)

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around. Join. (24 sts)

Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, repeat [dc in next st, 2 dc in next st] around. Join. (36 sts)

(For a larger bottle you may work one more round of increase with 48 sts)

Side

Round 4 (back loops only): Ch 3, dc in the back loop of each st around. Join. (36 sts)

Crochet ripple stitch purse - free pattern

Materials:

Bulky weight/category 5 yarn one 80 gm ball

H/5 mm crochet hook

Magnetic snap button

Yarn needle

Mini pompoms (optional)

Size:

About 8.5 inches wide

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:

** - Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed 

[ ] - Repeat instructions within parenthesis as a set as many times as directed

st/sts - stitch/stitches

sl st - slip stitch

ch - chain

dc - double crochet

dc2tog - double crochet 2 sts together (dc decrease)

Technique:

Dc2tog with a skipped ch/st in between - Yarn over, insert hook in the next st and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops of the hook, yarn over, skip next ch/st, insert hook in the next st and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through all the 3 loops

Instruction:

Row 1: Ch 32, skip 3 ch from hook and work a dc in the 4th ch, dc in next 5 ch, dc2tog with a skipped ch in between, dc in next 5 ch, [dc, ch 1, dc] in the next ch, dc in next 5 ch, dc2tog with a skipped ch in between, dc in next 5 ch, 2 dc in the last ch. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 5 sts, dc2tog with a skipped st in between, dc in next 5 sts, [dc, ch 1, dc] in the next st, dc in next 5 sts, dc2tog with a skipped st in between, dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in the last st. Turn.

Repeat row 2 fifteen more times. Total length is about 13 inches. With the right side facing fold about 4 inches of the lower part above and sew both the sides together. After sewing pull the right side out. 

Attach the magnetic snap button and sew the pompoms along the edge of the flap.
You can also make it longer, attach strap to the sides and make it a sling bag.

Crochet cross body bag with beads - free pattern

Materials:
2 strands of sport weight yarn held together or 1 strand of medium worsted weight yarn 
3.5 mm crochet hook
magnetic button
a pair of D-ring clasps (optional)
10 beads with large holes large enough for the hook to pass through
yarn needle

Size:
Approximately 6.5 inches wide and 8 inches high excluding the strap

Instruction:

Bag:

Round 1: Using the main colour make a magic ring (or) ch 5 and join to form a ring and work 10 hdc into ring. Join with a sl st to the 1st hdc. (10 sts)

Round 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), 2 hdc in each st around. Join. (20 sts)

Round 3: Ch 1, repeat [hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st] around. Join. (30 sts).

Round 4: Ch 1, repeat [hdc in next 2 st, 2 hdc in next st] around. Join. (40 sts).

Round 5: Ch 1, repeat [hdc in next 3 st, 2 hdc in next st] around. Join. (50 sts).

Round 6: Ch 1, repeat [hdc in next 4 st, 2 hdc in next st] around. Join. (60 sts).

Round 7: Ch 1, hdc in each st around. Join. (60 sts).

Repeat round 7 until the total height is about 8 inches. Cut off yarn. 

Semicircle flap:

Row 1: Using colour A make a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as 1st st), 6 dc into ring. Turn. (7 sts).

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in rest of the 6 sts. Turn. (12 sts).

Row 3: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), dc in next st, repeat [ch 1, dc in next st] across. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in 1st space and 2 dc in each ch-1 space across skipping the dc in between, dc in last st. Turn. (28 sts)

Row 5: Pull colour B through the loop and ch 6 (counts as dc + ch 3), dc in same st, **skip next 2 sts, [dc, ch 3, dc] in the next st** Repeat from ** to ** across. Cut off colour A. Turn. 

Row 6: Pull colour A through the loop and ch 3 (counts as dc), **dc in ch-3 space, pick up a bead and insert the hook into its hole and yarn over hook and insert hook into the same space, pull yarn and pull through 2 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through the remaining 2 loops with the bead at the center, work one more dc in teh same space, ch 1, **3 dc in ch-3 space with bead in the 2nd dc, ch 1**  Repeat from ** to ** across, dc in the last st.

At the end of the row do not fasten off, ch 1 and work 28 sc across the flat edge of the semicircle.  

Row 7: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st space before the 1st bead, **sc in space before bead, ch 3, sc in space after bead, sc in ch-1 space** Repeat from ** to ** across the curved part of the semicircle finishing with 2 sc at the end. Fasten off and weave in all the loose ends of yarn.


Strap:

Make chains long enough for the strap, insert hook into the ring of the clasp and pull through the last ch worked, sl st in each ch until the end, insert hook into the ring of the 2nd clasp, pull yarn and sl st in the 1st ch. Fasten off and weave in the ends. 

If you wish to make a strap without the clasps just work chs long enough for the strap and work sl st in each ch. Sew both ends of the strap to the sides of the bag.

Finishing

Sew the flap to the bag. Flatten the top part of the bag with the joint at the side keeping the part where the joint is visible as the back and the other side as the front. Place the flat part of the semicircle behind the back part of the bag so that right side of both the bag and the flap are facing each other as shown in the image and sew both the loops of the sts in the flap to the back loops of the sts in the bag. You'll be joining into 30 sts.  


Sew the magnetic button to the flap and the bag

Attach the strap to the sides of the bag.

Instruction

Using colour A (pink), ch 25

Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in rest of the chs except the last, 3 sc in last ch, sc in next 22 ch on the other side, 2 sc in the next ch. Join with a sl st to 1st sc (50 sts)

Round 5: Join colour C (white), ch 1, sc in 4 sts, [ch 3, sl st in previous sc – forms picot], **sc in next 7 sts, picot** Repeat from ** to ** around, sc in last 3 sts. Join.

Round 6: Pull colour A through the loop, ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in next 2 sts, ch 2, skip next 2 sts, **dc in next 5 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts** Repeat from ** to ** around, dc in last 2 sts. Join with a sl st to the top of the 3rd ch.

Round 7: Ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in ch-2 space, **dc in 5 dc, 2 dc in ch-2 space** Repeat from ** to ** around, dc in last 2 dc. Join with a sl st to the 1st st.

Repeat rounds 3 to 7 four more times. Fasten off. 

To make the strap using 2 strands of yarn together (I used pink and yellow) make chs approximately 45 inches long. Cut off yarn.

Sew a button to the top of the bag at the center. Join yarn at the back of the bag right behind the button and make chs long enough to go around the button, sl st in the same st where you joined yarn and fasten off. Weave in all the loose ends.

Materials Required:
Sport weight yarn in 2 colours
3.5 mm crochet hook
button
yarn needle

Size:
Approximately 18.5 cm wide and 19.5 cm high excluding the strap

Abbreviations/Stitches Used:
** - Repeat instructions within asterisks as many times as instructed
[ ] - Repeat instructions within parenthesis as a set as many times as directed
st/sts - stitch/stitches
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet

Instruction

Round 1: Using color A, ch 17, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in rest of chs except the last, 3 sc in last ch, sc in 14 ch on the other side, 2 sc in next ch. Join with a sl st to the 1st sc (34 sc)

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 14 sts, 2 dc in next 3 sts, dc in 14 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts. Join with a sl st to the 1st st. (40 sc)  

Round 3: Pull color B through the loop, ch 1, sc in same st, **ch 1, skip next st, [dc, ch 1, dc] in next st, ch 1, skip next st, sc in next st** Repeat from ** to ** around. Join with a sl st in the 1st sc.

Round 4: Pull color A through the loop, ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in same st, **ch 1, sc in ch-1 space, ch 1, 3 dc in next sc** Repeat from ** to ** around. Finish the round with a dc in the 1st sc at the beginning.

Round 5: Pull color B through the loop, ch 1, sc in same st, **ch 1, [dc, ch 1, dc] in next sc, ch 1, sc in the 2nd dc** Repeat from ** to ** around. Join with a sl st to the sc at the beginning of round.

Repeat rounds 4 and 5 eleven more times.

Edging

Round 1: Pull color A through the loop, ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next ch-1 space, **sc in ch-1 space between 2 dc, sc in next ch-1 space, sc in sc, sc in next ch-1 space** Repeat from ** to ** around. Join with a sl st.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join.

Strap

Holding 2 strands of yarn together and a larger hook (4 mm), ch 150, sl st in the horizontal bumps at the back of each ch across. Fasten off.  

Finishing

Sew both ends of the strap to the bag. Weave in all the loose ends of yarn.
