Materials:

Sport weight/category 2 weight yarn about 160 meters

3.5 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

Size:

Approximately 25 inches long not including the ties and 12.5 inches high

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:

** - Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed

[ ] - Repeat instructions within brackets as a set as many times as directed

st/sts - stitch/stitches

ch - chains

sl st - slip stitch

sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet

dc2tog - double crochet worked together in 2 consecutive stitches (dc decrease)

cluster - 4 de worked together in the same st/space

Customization:

 To adapt this pattern for a triangle shawl make chains in multiples of 16 + 3

Edging and ties: With the right side facing, join yarn at the right lower corner, repeat [ch 3, sc] spacing the sts evenly at regular intervals, going all the way up to the top, coming all the way down to the other corner. 

Continue working the ties. To make the ties ch 65 (or more) and sl st in each ch up to the bottom of the triangle, repeat [ch 3, sc] across the base up to the other end, ch 65 (or more) and sl st in each ch across reaching the base of the triangle. Fasten off and weave in the loose ends of yarn.

Instruction

Ch 6, join with a sl st to 1st ch to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc into ring, ch 3, repeat [3 dc, ch 3] 3 times into ring. Join with a sl st to top of ch 3.

This is an easy crochet stitch pattern that you can use to make shawls and scarves. It's a 2-row repeat pattern and suitable for beginners.

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:
** - Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed
st/sts - stitch/stitches
ch - chain
sc - single crochet 
dc - double crochet
2dc cluster - 2 double crochet stitches worked together in the same stitch

Note:
The pattern is written in standard US terms
Make chains in multiples of 4 + 2

Approximately 5.5 inches wide and 60 inches long

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:

** - Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed

ch - chain

st/sts - stitch/stitches

sl st - slip stitch

hdc - half double crochet

Note:

For a custom width make chains in multiples of 10 + 6 (or) 5 + 1

You can use multiples of 10 + 6 if you want both the ends to have the same set of sts (start with sl sts and end with sl sts). Otherwise you can use multiples of 5 + 1
