Materials Needed:

Medium worsted weight yarn in 2 colours

3.5 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

A small amount of fiberfill

Stitches and Abbreviations Used:

** - Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed

[ ] - Repeat instructions within brackets as a set as many times as instructed

st/sts - stitch/stitches

sl st - slip stitch

sc - single crochet

hdc - half double crochet

dc - double crochet

dc2tog - double crochet worked together in 2 consecutive stitches (dc decrease)

Note:

• The pattern is written in standard American terms.
• For an applique use thread yarn and a suitable smaller hook and make a single piece.
• For a plushie make 2 pieces and join them together

Instruction

(make 2)

Upper part

Round 1: Using the 1st colour ch 14, dc in 5^th ch from hook, dc in next 8 ch, 7 dc in last ch, dc in next 9 ch, 6 dc in next ch. Join with a sl st in the 1^st dc.

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in next 10 sts. 2 dc in next 5 sts, dc in next 11 sts, 2 dc in 5 sts. Join with a sl st to the top of 3^rd ch.

Round 3: Sl st in the next st, ch 3, dc in next 8 sts. 

Round 4: Ch 1, sc in 2 sts, hdc in next st, dc in 3 sts, hdc in next st, sc in 2 sts. Fasten off. Turn.

Round 5: Join yarn in the 10^th st on the right from the starting ch 3 of round 2, ch 1, 2 sc in the 10^th st, repeat [sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] 3 times, sc in next st which is the top of ch 3, sc in 2 ch on the row above, 2 sc in 1^st sc of the next row, sc in next 3 sts, ch 4, sc in 3 ch, skip next st, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in the last sc, 2 sc in the post of 1^st dc in the row below, sc in the next st in the row below, repeat [2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts] 3 times, 2 sc in next st. Fasten off.

Lower Part

Row 1: Join 2nd colour in the next st, ch 2, dc in next st (together counts as dc2tog), dc in next 7 sts, dc2tog. Turn. (9 sts)

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in next 8 sts. Turn. (9 sts)

Row 3: Ch 2, dc in next st (together counts as dc2tog), dc in next 5 sts, dc2tog. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 4: Ch 3, dc in next 6 sts. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 5: Ch 2, dc in next st (together counts as dc2tog), dc in next 3 sts, dc2tog. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 6: Ch 3, dc in next 4 sts. Turn. (5 sts)

Finishing

Make 2 pieces and join them together with the right sides of both the pieces out and working sc around. You can lightly stuff with fiberfill before closing.
