Materials:
Medium worsted weight yarn in beige about 125 to 130 meters and small amount in brown
Boucle yarn in green about 10 meters
6 mm crochet hook
12 inch long wooden dowel
beads for decoration
yarn needle
Note:
- The medium worsted weight yarns are worked in double strands while the boucle yarn in worked in single strand.
- The chart is read from bottom up. It is symmetrical so it can be read from left or right.
- Each box represents as stitch horizontally. There are 25 sts in a row and there are 28 rows.
- Start with 26 chains.
- The first two rows are worked using beige only and the colour change starts from the 3rd row.
- Watch the video for details on changing colors.
After completing the 28 rows work the loops to hang the tapestry.
Ch 1, work sc in first 5 sts. Turn and work sc in each st. Repeat until the strip is long enough to wrap about the dowel. Cut yarn off. Skip next 5 sts and join yarn in the next st and repeat as previous. Skip the next 5 sts and make one more. Fold these strips behind and sew the edges forming loops to hang the tapestry. Insert the dowel through these loops. Weave in all the loose ends.
Cut out strands of yarn measuring about 7 or 8 inches and make tassels on the lower edge using 3 strands for each tassel and attaching them in alternate stitches.
Decorate the tree with beads and buttons.
