Sea Urchin - free crochet triangular scarf pattern

Today's pattern is a very pretty scarf/shawlette. I used a multicolor sport weight yarn which I guess is a perfect choice for this pattern. This triangle scarf measures about 70 inches from one end to the other and has a depth of 15 inches.

Materials required:
Sport weight/category 2 yarn approximately 265 meters
G/4 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle

Size:
The scarf measures 70 inches across and 15 inches deep

Stitches/abbreviations Used:
ch - chain
st/sts - stitch/stitches
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
tr - treble
dc2tog - double crochet decrease/double crochet 2 consecutive stitches worked together 

Instruction

Row 1: Ch 4, 2 dc in the last ch from hook. Turn. (3 sts) Skipped 3 ch counts as the 1st st

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in 3 sts, ch 3. Turn.

Row 3: sc in 2nd and 3rd ch from the hook, sc in the back loops of next 3 sts. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 4: Ch 3 (counts as 1st st), dc in the front loops of next 3 sts. Ch 3. Turn. (4 sts)

Row 5: sc in 2nd and 3rd ch from the hook, sc in the back loops of rest of the sts across. Turn. (6 sts)

Row 6: Ch 5 (counts as tr + ch 1), skip next st, tr in next st, ch 1, skip next st, tr in next st, ch 3. Turn.

Row 7: sc in 2nd and 3rd ch from the hook, sc in the each st and each ch-1 space across. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 8: Ch 3 (counts as 1st st), dc in the front loops of rest of the sts except the last, ch 3. Turn. (6 sts)

Row 9: sc in the 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, sc in the back loops of rest of the sts across. Turn. (8 sts)

Row 10: Ch 5 (counts as tr + ch 1), skip next st, tr in next st, [ch 1, skip next st, tr in next st] 2 times, ch 3. Turn.

Row 11: sc in 2nd and 3rd ch from the hook, sc in the each st and each ch-1 space across. Turn. (9 sts)

Row 12: Ch 3 (counts as 1st st), dc in the front loops of rest of the sts except the last, ch 3. Turn. (8 sts)

Row 13: Sc in the 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, sc in the back loops of rest of the sts across. Turn. (10 sts)

Row 14: Ch 5 (counts as tr + ch 1), skip next st, tr in next st, [ch 1, skip next st, tr in next st] 3 times, ch 3. Turn.

Continue the pattern repeating the rows 11 to 14 sixteen more times or until you have 20 ch-1 spaces in the last row.

Row 79: sc in the 3rd ch from the hook, sc in the each st and each ch-1 space across. Turn. (42 sts)

Row 80: Ch 3 (counts as 1st st), dc in the front loops of each st across except the last, ch 3. Turn. (41 sts)

Row 81: Sc in the 3rd ch from hook, sc in the back loops of rest of the sts across. Turn. (42 sts)

Row 82: Ch 5 (counts as tr + ch 1), skip next st, tr in next st, [ch 1, skip next st, tr in next st] 19 times, ch 3. Turn. (You will have 20 ch-1 spaces)

Row 83: sc in the 3rd ch from the hook, sc in the each st and each ch-1 space across. Turn. (42 sts)

Row 84: Ch 3 (counts as 1st st), dc in the front loops of each st across until you have 3 sts left, dc2tog, ch 3. Turn. (40 sts)

Row 85: Sc in the 3rd ch from hook, sc in the back loops of rest of the sts across. Turn. (41 sts)

Row 86: Ch 5 (counts as tr + ch 1), skip next st, tr in next st, [ch 1, skip next st, tr in next st] 18 times, ch 3. Turn. (You have decreased one ch-1 space)

Repeat rows 83 to 86 decreasing sts as you progress until you have two ch-1 spaces in the tr st row.

Next row: sc in the 3rd ch from the hook, sc in the each st and each ch-1 space across. Turn. (6 sts)

Next row: Ch 3 (counts as 1st st), dc in the front loops of next 2 sts, dc2tog, ch 3. Turn. (4 sts)

Next row: Sc in the 3rd ch from hook, sc in the back loops of rest of the sts across. Turn. (5 sts)

Last row: Ch 3, dc in the front loop of next st, dc2tog. (3 sts)

Cut off yarn and weave in the loose ends. Block your scarf.
