Crochet wrist warmers - free pattern

This pattern is for a pair of adult medium sized wrist warmers. The pattern can be adjusted to suit your size.

Materials Required:

Light worsted weight/DK weight yarn approximately 100 yards

Crochet hook size G/4 mm

Stitch markers

Measuring tape

Yarn needle

Size:

Circumference is 7.5 inches/19 cm

Height is 6.25 inches/16 cm 

Gauge

18 dc and 9 rows = approximately 4 inches

Abbreviations/Stitches Used:

** - Repeat instructions within asterisks as many times as directed

st/sts - stitch/stitches

ch - chain

sl st - slip stitch

sc - single crochet

hdc - half double crochet

dc - double crochet

Note:

  • The pattern is written using standard American terms.
  • Ch 3 at the beginning of a row always counts as the 1st st

Instruction

Wrist cuff

Row 1: Ch 10, hdc in the 3rd ch from hook and in rest of the ch across. Turn. (8 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1 (does not count as a st in any row), hdc in the front loops (loops that are below the 2 top loops) of 7 sts, hdc in both the loops of the last st. Turn. (8 sts)

Row 3: Ch 1, hdc in the back loops of 7 sts, hdc in both the loops of the last st. Turn. (8 sts)

Row 4 to 17: Repeat rows 2 and 3.


For other sizes:

Increase or decrease the number of rows worked. Wrap the cuff around your wrist and work the rows accordingly. Every row will increase 2 sts. Your sts need to be an even number. 

Palm

Work across the horizontal length of the cuff.

Row 1: Ch 3, (counts as dc in every row), work 33 dc across the horizontal length of the cuff working 2 sts in each of the 17 hdc rows of the cuff. Totally you will work 34 sts including the ch 3 at the beginning. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in each st across. Turn. (34 sts)

Row 3: Ch 3, **skip next st, dc in next st, dc in the skipped st** Repeat from ** to ** across, dc in last st. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 3, dc in each st across. Turn. (34 sts)

Row 5 to 10: Repeat rows 3 and 4.

Row 11: Repeat row 3. Cut off yarn.

Fold into half vertically with the wrong side out and sew the edges together starting from the bottom and moving up. Sew the cuffs, then sew 4.5 cm up. Then leave a gap of about 2.5 cm for the thumb and sew rest of the edges till the top.

 

Edging:

Round 1: Pull the right side out, join yarn at anywhere at the top and work sc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the 1st sc.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join and cut off yarn.
