Tunisian crochet simple stitch cowl - free pattern

Learn how to crochet a Tunisian simple stitch cowl using my video tutorial for absolute beginners. I used about 120-125 grams of light worsted weight/DK weight variegated yarn and a 5 mm Tunisian crochet hook. You can say Tunisian crochet is a combination of both crochet and knitting techniques. The stitches are worked as you work crochet stitches using a hook similar to a crochet hook except for the length but the loop of each stitch is held on the hook as in knitting and completed later as you make a return pass. Here you are working only one side. There is no turning over. A forward pass is made moving from right to left and a return pass is made from left to right where the stitches made during the forward pass are completed. The cowl that I made measures about 30 cm wide and 22 cm high and fits snuggly around the neck. The length and width is adjustable.
