Materials Needed:

Medium worsted weight yarn approximately 185 meters

G/4 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

Size:

Approximately 13 inches wide and 10 inches high

** - Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed

[ ] - Repeat instructions within brackets as a set as many times as directed

ch - chain

st/sts - stitch/stitches

sc - single crochet 

hdc - half double crochet

dc - double crochet

Instruction

Round 1: Ch 30, 3 hdc in 3^rd ch from hook, hdc in next 26 ch, 6 hdc in last ch, hdc in 26 ch on the other side, 2 hdc in next ch. Join with a sl st to the top of skipped 2 ch at the beginning of round (64 sts) (the skipped 2 ch will count as the 1^st st)

Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1^st st), 2 hdc in next 3 sts, hdc in 26 sts, 2 hdc in 6 sts, hdc in next 26 sts, 2 hdc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st. Join with a sl st to the top of ch 2. (76 sts).

Round 3: Ch 2 (counts as 1^st st), 2 hdc in next st, [hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st] 2 times, hdc in 28 sts, [2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st] 2 times, 2 hdc in next 2 sts, [hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st] 2 times, hdc in next 28 sts, [2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st] 2 times, hdc in next st. Join with a sl st to the top of ch 2. (88 sts).

Round 4: Ch 2 (counts as 1^st st), 2 hdc in next st, [hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st] 2 times, hdc in 30 sts, [2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts] 2 times, 2 hdc in next 2 sts, [hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st] 2 times, hdc in next 30 sts, [2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts] 2 times, hdc in next st. Join with a sl st to the top of ch 2. (100 sts).

Round 5 to 12: Ch 2 (counts as 1^st st), hdc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the top of ch 2. (100 sts).

Round 13: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), dc in same st, ch 1, skip 4 sts, [dc, ch 2, 4 dc] in the next st, ch 1, skip 4 sts, **[dc, ch 1, dc] in the next st, ch 1, skip 4 sts, [dc, ch 2, 4 dc] in the next st, ch 1, skip 4 sts** Repeat from ** to ** around. Join with a sl st to the 3^rd ch.

Round 15: Sl st in the next ch-1 space, ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), dc in same space, ch 1, [dc, ch 2, 4 dc] in the next ch-2 space, ch 1, **[dc, ch 1, dc] in the next ch-1 space, ch 1, [dc, ch 2, 4 dc] in the next ch-2 space, ch 1** Repeat from ** to ** around. Join with a sl st to the 3^rd ch.

Round 16 to 22: Repeat rounds 14 and 15. Fasten off.

Cord (make 2)

Ch 2, sc in 1^st ch, turn it away from you, you’ll find a horizontal bar below the V shape of the stitch, 

insert hook into the horizontal bar and work sc, **turn it away from you and now you’ll find 2 horizontal bars, insert hook into the 2 horizontal bars and work sc** Repeat from ** to ** until the cord is about 15 inches long. Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in all the loose ends of yarn. Sew the cords to the top of the bag on both the sides at equal distance away from both the ends.
