Materials:

Medium worsted weight yarn 2 strands held together

G/4 mm crochet hook

Zipper

Black felt sheet

Half beads for eyes - 2

Embroidery skein - black

[ ] - Repeat instructions within brackets as a set as many times as directed

ch - chain

st/sts - stitch/stitches

sl st - slip stitch

sc - single crochet

Note:

  • The pattern is written in standard US terms
  • The pouch is worked using 2 strands of yarn held together. Holding 2 strands gives sturdiness to the pouch. Instead you can also substitute with a single strand of chunky weight yarn
  • Only the base has the ends of the rounds joined with a sl st. The body is worked in continuous rounds without joining.
  • Use stitch markers at the 1st st of each round to identify the beginning of the round.
  • To make a larger pouch work more rounds of increase at the base.

Finishing

Cut out 2 circles of about 1.5 cm diameter from black felt sheet. I glued 2 half beads on the circles and glued the eyes to the pouch

Cut out tiny black circles from black felt sheet and glue them to the bottom of the pouch. Alternately you can also embroider the circles, in which case the stitches will be visible on the inner side and may require lining to hide it.

Attaching zipper to pouch

Measure and cut zipper to size.
Create a stopper at the cut end by placing a stitch across the teeth of the zipper.
You can pin the zipper on one side to the top edge of the pouch to hold it in place.
Sew from one end to the other
Before sewing the other side, open the zipper, pin the other side to the pouch in place and sew from one end to the other.
