300 meters of purse thread of 0.5 mm thickness (you may also substitute it with light worsted weight/category 3 yarn)

3 mm crochet hook

Base

Round 1: Ch 42, sc in 2^nd ch from hook and in rest of the chs except the last, 3 sc in last ch, sc in next 39 ch on the other side, 2 sc in next ch. Join with a sl st to the 1^st sc. (84 sts)

Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1^st st, sc in next 39 sts, 2 sc in next 3 sts, sc in next 39 sts, 2 sc in next 2 sts. Join with a sl st to 1^st st. (90 sts)

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in 1^st st, 2 sc in next st, sc in 39 sts, [sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 3 times, sc in 39 sts, [sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 2 times. Join. (96 sts)

Body

Round 7 to 10: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the 1^st sc (114 sts)

Round 11: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), skip 1 st before the chs and dc in the st before that (forms X), **skip next 2 sts, dc in the next st, ch 1, dc in the 1^st skipped st** Repeat from ** to ** around. Join with a sl st to the 3^rd ch at the beginning of round.

Round 12: Ch 1, sc in each st and each ch-1 space around. Join with a sl st to the 1^st sc. (114 sts)

Round 13: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the 1^st sc. (114 sts)

Handles (make 2)

Ch 90, sl st at the back of each ch across, Fasten off. (Make more chs if you want longer handles)

Flap

Row 1: Ch 6, sc in 2^nd ch from hook and in rest of chs across. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (5 sts)

Repeat row 2 until 2 inches high.

Next row: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next st, sc2tog. Turn (3 sts)

Next row: Ch 1, sc3tog. Cut off yarn and weave in the loose ends.

The flat part is the top of the flap. Join yarn to one end of the top and sc along the edge until the other end. Cut off yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing:

Skip 5 cross stitches from both the ends and insert each end of a handle into the next spaces and sew. Repeat on other side of the bag

Sew the flap between the two ends of the handle at the back side of the bag. Sew the magnetic buttons and the decorative button on the flap. Weave in all the loose ends.
