Materials Required:

Medium worsted weight/category 4 yarn approximately 156 meters

J/6 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

Size:

Approximately 12.5 inches wide and 9.5 inches high

Gauge:

12 dc and 6 rows = approximately 4 inches

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:

** - Repeat instructions within asterisks as many times as directed

[ ] - Repeat instructions within parenthesis as a set as many times as directed

ch - chain

st/sts - stitch/stitches

sl st - slip stitch

hdc - half double crochet (UK - half treble)

tr - treble (UK - double treble)

Customization:

To increase or decrease width make initial chains in multiples of 2.

Instruction

Ch 80, join the last ch with a sl st to the 1^st ch to form a ring being careful not to twist the chains.

Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc in each ch around. Join with a sl st to the 1^st st. (80 sts)

Round 2 (work in back loops only): Ch 1, skip the 2 loops at the top of each st and work hdc into the 3^rd loop at the back. Join with a sl st to the 1^st st.

Round 3 (work in back loops only): Ch 5 (counts as tr + ch 1), **skip next st, tr in the back loop of next st, ch 1** Repeat from ** to ** around. Join with a sl st to the 4^th ch at the beginning of round.

Round 4: Ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in next ch-1 space, repeat [hdc in next st, hdc in next ch-1 space] around. Join with a sl st to the 1^st st.

Repeat rounds 2 to 4 until you reach the desired height. Fasten off and weave in the loose ends.
