Flamingo shawl - free crochet pattern

I have today an easy shawl/wrap pattern for you using only basic crochet stitches making it suitable for beginners.

Skill Level

Easy/beginner

Materials 

Light worsted weight/DK weight/category 3 yarn about 600 yards

G/4 mm crochet hook

Size

The shawl measures about 20 inches wide and 80 inches long after blocking

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:

** - repeat instructions within asterisks as many times as directed

ch  - chain

st/sts - stitch/stitches

sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet

For custom size

To increase the length just increase the number of times the row is repeated.

For a custom width make initial chains in multiples of 11 + 5

Instruction

Row 1: Ch 93, dc in 5^th ch from hook, dc in next 4 ch, ch 3, skip 1 ch, **dc in next 10 ch, ch 3, skip 1 ch** Repeat from ** to ** 6 more times, dc in last 6 ch. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1^st dc), dc in next 3 sts, ch 3, sc in ch-3 space, ch 3, skip 2 dc, **dc in next 6 dc, ch 3, sc in ch-3 space, ch 3, skip next 2 dc** Repeat from ** to ** 6 more times, dc in last 4 sts. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1^st dc), dc in next dc, **ch 3, sc in ch-3 space, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, skip 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next dc, **2 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, 2 dc in next ch-3 space, dc in next 2 dc** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Row 5: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in ch-3 space, ch 3, 2 dc in next ch-3 space, **dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, 2 dc in next ch-3 space** Repeat from ** to ** across, dc in last 4 sts. Turn.

Repeat rows 2 to 5. 

In the last row of the shawl which is a row 5 repeat, instead of ch-3 space work ch-1 space.
