Crochet cluster stitch bag/purse - free pattern

Today's pattern is a small purse/bag which can be used as a cross body bag, big enough to carry your mobile and a few essential items. The bag is made using the beautiful cluster V stitch pattern that I had shared with you here a few days ago.

Watch the video tutorial here

The pattern is written using standard American terms

Skill Level:

Easy

Materials:

Light worsted weight yarn - one 100 gm ball
Crochet hook size G/4 mm
A large button
Yarn needle

Size:

The bag measures 6.5 inches wide and 7.5 inches long excluding the handle.

Abbreviations/Stitches Used:

** - Repeat instructions within asterisks as many times as directed
[ ] - Repeat instructions within parenthesis as many times as directed
st/sts - stitch/stitches
sl st - slip stitch
ch - chain
sc - single crochet (UK - double crochet)
dc - double crochet (UK - treble)
cluster - 3 double crochet stitches worked together in the same stitch

Cluster:

[Yarn over hook, insert hook in st] 3 times, yarn over and pull through all loops except last, yarn over and pull through remaining 2 loops.

Instruction:

Round 1: Ch 27, dc in the 4th ch from hook (skipped ch 3 will count as the 1st st), dc in rest of the chs across except the last, 5 dc in the last ch, dc in next 22 sts on the other side of the chs, 3 dc in the last ch. Join with a sl st to the 1st st (54 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1 (does not count as st), [cluster, ch 1, cluster] in same st, skip next 2 sts, **[cluster, ch 1, cluster] in next st, skip 2 sts** Repeat from ** to ** across. Join with a sl st to the 1st cluster.
Round 3: Sl st in next ch-1 space, ch 1, (does not count as st), [cluster, ch 1, cluster] in each ch-1 space around. Join with a sl st to the 1st cluster.
Round 4 to 11: Repeat round 3.
Round 12: Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc in each st and in each ch-1 space around. Join with a sl st to the 1st st. (54 sts)
Round 13 and 14: Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the 1st st.

To make strap, ch 120 (or more if you will use it as a cross body bag), sl st in each ch across. Fasten off and weave in all the loose ends. Sew the ends of the strap to the sides of the bag.

Sew a button at the top center of the bag. Join yarn at the other side of the bag behind the button and make any number of chs long enough to wrap around the button. Sl st in next st and cut off yarn. Weave in the ends. Your bag is now ready!
