2.5 mm crochet hook

ch - chain
[ ] - repeat instructions within parenthesis as many times as directed
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
tr4tog - treble crochet worked together in 4 consecutive stitches (tr decrease)

Instruction
Ch 8, join the last ch with a sl st to the 1st ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), 16 dc into ring. Join the last dc with a sl st to the 1st dc.
Round 2: Ch 5 (counts as dc + ch 2), dc in next st, ch 2, repeat [dc in next st, ch 2] around. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch.
Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in same st, ch 2, repeat [2 dc in next st, ch 2] around. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch.
Round 4: Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in same st, 2 dc in next st, ch 2, repeat [2 dc in next 2 dc, ch 2] around. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch.
Round 5: Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in next 3 dc, ch 2, repeat [dc in 4 dc, ch 2] around. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch.
Round 6: Ch 3, tr3tog (counts as tr4tog), ch 4, sc in next ch-2 space, repeat [ch 7, sl st in the 3rd ch from hook (picot), tr4tog, ch 4, sc in next ch-2 space] until the last ch-2 space, ch 7, make a picot. Join with a sl st to the top of tr3tog at the beginning of round. Cut off yarn. Weave in the ends and block the doily.
