Materials Needed:

Medium worsted weight yarn approximately 350 meters

5.5 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

Size:

Approximately 5.5 inches wide and 60 inches long

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:

** - Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed

ch - chain

st/sts - stitch/stitches

sl st - slip stitch

hdc - half double crochet

Note:

For a custom width make chains in multiples of 10 + 6 (or) 5 + 1

You can use multiples of 10 + 6 if you want both the ends to have the same set of sts (start with sl sts and end with sl sts). Otherwise you can use multiples of 5 + 1

Instruction

Row 1: Ch 26, sl st in 2^nd ch from hook and in next 4 ch, **hdc in next 5 ch, sl st in next 5 ch** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Row 2 (back loops only): Ch 1, sl st in the back loops of 5 sts. **hdc in the back loops of next 5 sts, sl st in the back loops of next 5 sts** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Row 3 (back loops only): Ch 1, hdc in the back loops of 5 sl sts, **sl st in the back loops of 5 hdc. hdc in the back loops of next 5 sl sts** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Row 4 (back loops only): Ch 1, hdc in the back loops of next 5 sts, **sl st in the back loops of 5 sts. hdc in the back loops of next 5 sts** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Row 5 (back loops only): Ch 1, sl st in the back loops of 5 hdc. **hdc in the back loops of next 5 sl sts, sl st in the back loops of next 5 hdc** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Repeat rows 2 to 5 until you reach the desired length.
