Materials:

Light worsted weight/category 3 yarn approximately 775 to 800 meters

3.5 mm and 4 mm crochet hooks

Border

(Use 3.5 mm crochet hook)

Row 1: Ch 93, skip 6 ch from hook, dc in the 7^th ch, **ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn. (44 ch-1 spaces)

Row 2: Ch 3, **dc in ch-1 space, dc in next st** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn. (89 sts)

Row 3: Ch 4, skip next st, dc in next st, **ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn. (44 ch-1 spaces)

Row 4: Ch 5, sc in next dc, **ch 5, skip next dc, sc in next dc** Repeat from ** to ** across, ch 2, dc in the last st. Turn,

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in same st, **[3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc] in next ch-5 space, sc in next space** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Row 6: Ch 6, sc in ch-1 space, ch 3, dc in next sc, **ch 3, sc in next dc, ch 3, dc in next sc** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Row 7: Ch 4, dc in next ch-3 space, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next ch-3 space, ch 1, dc in next dc** Repeat from ** to ** across finishing with dc in the 3^rd ch. Turn.

Row 8 to 25: Repeat rows 2 to 7 four more times.

Row 26 to 29: Repeat rows 2 to 5. Cut off yarn.

Body

(Change to 4 mm crochet hook)

Turn the border over and work from the wrong side. Join yarn in the corner ch at the other end of the border on the wrong side.

Row 1: Ch 5, sc in next dc, **ch 5, skip next dc, sc in next dc** Repeat from ** to ** across, ch 2, dc in the last st. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space, **ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-5 space, ch 3, sc in next ch-5 space** Repeat from ** to ** across, ch 2, dc in last space. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in same st, **ch 5, sc in next ch-3 space** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn,

Row 4: Ch 5, sc in next ch-5 space, **ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-5 space, ch 3, sc in next ch-5 space** Repeat from ** to ** across until the last ch-5 space, ch 2, dc in last st. Turn.

Repeat rows 3 and 4 finishing with row 4 until the length is about 56 inches.

Border

(Change to 3.5 mm crochet hook)

Row 1: Ch 5, sc in next sc, **ch 5, sc in next ch-3 space** Repeat from ** to ** across until the ch-3 space before the last space, ch 5, sc in next sc, ch 2, dc in last st. Turn.  

Row 2: Ch 4, dc in next ch-3 space, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next ch-3 space, ch 1, dc in next dc** Repeat from ** to ** across finishing with dc in the 3^rd ch. Turn.

Repeat rows 2 to 7 as in the 1st border. 

Finishing

Cut off yarn, weave in all the loose ends. Block the shawl to open up the stitches.
