Materials:
Light worsted weight/DK weight variegated yarn approximately 650 meters
G/4 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle.
Size:
The finished scarf measures approximately 130 cm long and 30 cm wide
Abbreviations/stitches used:
[ ] - work instructions within parenthesis as a set as many times as directed.
ch - chain
st/sts - stitch/stitches
sc - single crochet (UK - double crochet)
hdc - half double crochet (UK - half treble)
dc - double crochet (UK - treble)
Note:
- The pattern is written in standard American terminology
- Ch 1 at the beginning of each row will not count as a stitch.
- The size is adjustable. You can increase the length by increasing the number of rows worked even and you can increase or decrease the width by increasing or decreasing the number of increasing rows.
Instruction
Row 1: Ch 15,
dc in the 7th ch from hook (skipped 6 ch counts as dc + ch 3),
[ch 3, dc] 2 times in the same ch. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1,
[sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc] in each ch-3 space, ch 5, skip next 5 ch and dc in the
last 3 ch. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1,
hdc in the front loops of each dc, 2 hdc in ch-5 space, ch 7, dc in the dc of 2nd
petal, [ch 3, dc] 3 times in the same st. Turn. (2 sts increased)
Row 4: Ch 1, [sc,
hdc, dc, hdc, sc] in each ch-3 space, ch 5, 2 dc in ch-7 space, dc in the back
loops of each hdc. Turn. (2 sts increased)
Repeat rows 3 and 4 increasing 2 sts in each row nine more times
Row 23: Ch 1, hdc in the front loops of each dc, 2 hdc in ch-5 space, ch 7, dc in the dc of 1st petal, [ch 3, dc] 3 times in the same st. Turn.
You will have 45 sts in this row and from
here onwards you will not increase any sts and each flower will be worked into
the 1st petal of the previous flower
Row 24: Ch 1, [sc,
hdc, dc, hdc, sc] in each ch-3 space, ch 5, dc in the back loops of each hdc.
Turn. (45 sts)
Row 25: Ch 1,
hdc in the front loops of each dc, ch 5, dc in the dc of 1st petal,
[ch 3, dc] 3 times in the same st. Turn. (45 sts)
Row 26: Ch 1, [sc,
hdc, dc, hdc, sc] in each ch-3 space, ch 5, dc in the back loops of each hdc.
Turn. (45 sts)
Repeat rows 25 and 26 thirty-five more times,
Row 97: Repeat row 25. (45 sts)
Row 98: Ch 1, [sc,
hdc, dc, hdc, sc] in each ch-3 space, ch 5, skip 2 sts, dc in the back loops of
rest of the sts. Turn. (43 sts) (2 sts decreased)
Row 99: Ch 1,
hdc in the front loops of each dc except the last 2, ch 7, dc in the dc of 2nd
petal, [ch 3, dc] 3 times in the same st. Turn. (41 sts) (2 sts decreased)
Repeat rows 98 and 99 nine more times.
Last row: Repeat row 98. You will have 3 sts in this row. Fasten off yarn and weave in the loose ends.
