The Lazy Hobbyhopper: Zigzag wrap

Here is the pattern for the wrap that I mentioned in my previous post. It is called the Zigzag wrap. I used light worsted weight/DK yarn and size G/4.00 mm crochet hook. This wrap needs careful blocking. I didn't do it properly. I wanted to photograph it before the natural light went out and so removed the pins even before it was completely dry.

Zigzag Wrap

Materials required

DK/light worsted weight yarns approximately 575 yards

Crochet hook size G/4.00 mm

(or)

any yarn and a suitable hook.

Size

The wrap measures 60 inches long and 16 inches wide after blocking.

I have written the pattern using standard American terms.

Stitches/abbreviations used

** - repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed

ch - chain

dc - double crochet (UK - treble)

Instruction:

Row 1: Ch 95, skip 10 ch and **dc in next 3 ch, [ch 3, skip 3 ch, dc in next 3 ch] twice, ch 9, skip 9 ch** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, dc in next 3 ch, ch 3, skip 3 ch, dc in next 3 ch, ch 3, skip next 3 ch, dc in last ch. Ch 3, turn.

Row 2: [3 dc in ch-3 space, ch 3] twice, **3 dc in ch-9 space, ch 9, [3 dc in ch-3 space, ch 3] twice** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, 4 dc in last space. Ch 6, turn.

Row 3: 3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space, **ch 9, 3 dc in ch-9 space, [ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space] twice** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, ch 3, dc in last st which is the 3^rd ch of the starting ch 3 of previous row. Ch 9, turn.

Row 4: Skip the 1^st ch-3 space, **[3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3] twice, 3 dc in ch-9 space, ch 9** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, 3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, 4 dc in last space. Ch 6, turn.

Row 5: 3 dc in ch-3 space, **ch 9, 3 dc in ch-9 space, [ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space] twice** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, ch 9, skip 6 ch and dc in next ch. Ch 3, turn.

Row 6: 3 dc in ch-9 space, **ch 9, [3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3] twice, 3 dc in ch-9 space** Repeat from ** to ** two more times, ch 9, 4 dc in last space. Ch 12, turn.

Row 7: **3 dc in ch-9 space, [ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space] twice, ch 9** Repeat from ** to ** two more times, 3 dc in ch-9 space, ch 3, dc in last st. Ch 3, turn.

Row 8: 3 dc in ch-3 space, ch 3, **3 dc in ch-9 space, ch 9, [3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3] twice** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, 3 dc in last space, ch 6, dc in the 3^rd ch of starting 12 ch of previous row. Ch 6, turn.

Row 9: 3 dc in ch-6 space, **[ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space] twice, ch 9, 3 dc in ch-9 space** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, dc in last st. Ch 3, turn.

Row 12: 3 dc in ch-3 space, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space, **ch 9, 3 dc in ch-9 space, [ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space] twice** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, ch 6, skip 3 ch and dc in next ch. Ch 12, turn.

Row 13: **[3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3] twice, 3 dc in next ch-9 space, ch 9** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, 3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, dc in last st. Ch 3, turn.

Row 14: 3 dc in ch-3 space, ch 9, **3 dc in ch-9 space, [ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space] twice, ch 9** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, 4 dc in ch-12 space. Ch 6, turn.

Row 15: 3 dc in next ch-9 space, **ch 9, [3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3] twice, 3 dc in ch-9 space** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, ch 9, dc in last st. Ch 9, turn.

Row 16: 3 dc in ch-9 space, **[ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space] twice, ch 9, 3 dc in ch-9 space** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, ch 3, 4 dc in last space. Ch 6, turn.

Row 17: 3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, **3 dc in ch-9 space, ch 9, [3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3] twice** Repeat from ** to ** twice, 3 dc in last ch-6 space, ch 3, dc in 3^rd ch of starting ch 9 of previous row. Ch 3, turn.

Row 18: 3 dc in ch-3 space, **[ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space] twice, ch 9, 3 dc in ch-9 space** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, 4 dc in last space. Ch 6, turn.

Repeat rows 2 to 19 six more times or until you reach the desired length.
