A local tour

Yesterday evening we went on a short local sightseeing trip. It's going to be nearly 13 years since I moved to Delhi but only yesterday for the first time I visited the Safdarjung Tomb. The mausoleum was constructed in 1754. There is supposedly an underground chamber which  houses the remains of Safdarjung and his wife. Except for a few couples seeking solitude there weren't many tourists. It was almost closing time when we went and we had only enough time to take a quick look.

The last photo is not Safdarjung tomb but Muhammad Shah tomb which is nearby and situated in Lodi Garden. Here too I saw only joggers, walkers and lovers but no tourists. This structure is believed to have been constructed in 1444. It was getting dark when we reached there. I counted 7 cenotaphs inside this small structure and looked eerie. I badly wanted to click a photo but had to stop myself since we were disturbing a couple having some private time inside amongst the buried people. There is no fear in love!

Have a great day!
