No, I don't use any special yarns. I make these potholders only for decorative purpose, so I use my regular acrylic and wool blend. But if you are going to use the potholders then cotton would be the best choice.
I have been smitten with crochet potholders lately ~ and oh, my! this is positively delightful. The colors are so warm & reminiscent of what my grandmother would have hanging in her farmhouse kitchen ---♥something that I am love with! (And I see that you had a birthday....best wishes on your day!)
