Waterfalls

Courtrallam in Tamil Nadu, South India, is a very popular summer destination. This summer when we had gone down South to visit our parents my husband and his friends went to Coutrallam. It's usually very crowded during summer and I hate crowd, so I didn't mind being left out.

He came back and went on and on about what great fun they had, how wonderful the climate was and that they went to another falls from there journeying through a stunning lush hillside. He suggested that we go to Coutrallam and he would take me to the other falls too. Though I didn't want to go to Coutrallam I was tempted by his description of the other falls which is called Palaruvi. So we made this trip towards the end of our vacation and I really really enjoyed it.

We went to Coutrallam first. The photo that you see above was taken there. What you see is the upper half of the waterfalls. I avoided clicking the lower half where you can see a huge crowd bathing under the waterfalls. After hubby and the kids (we had taken my sis-in-law's kid along) finished their bath we set out to Palaruvi which translates as "stream of milk." It is at the Kerala - Tamil Nadu border.

You can see for yourself the lush green tropical forest through which we journeyed.

We had to park the vehicle and trek a short distance through a narrow path to reach the waterfalls.
The view through the trees was breathtaking.

Luckily this falls wasn't crowded and people were not allowed to take bath here.

  6. So very beautiful! A lady who works in our front office is from Kerala. My husband lived in India during the 70s and loves it. He speaks Urdu and watches Indian movies and music videos all the time. We visited Delhi, Agra and Jaipur several years ago and one day will go again to the Northern part of India. It is my husband's dream to one day visit Varanasi. Have a wonderful weekend. Tammy
