I love houses, love them in any form, shape and size. I love especially these cottages/farm houses/salt box houses - whatever you call them. There are plenty of cliparts and cross stitch patterns that you can find on the internet of these cheerful and brilliantly colored houses with farms, trees and flowers around them, also cute little farm animals (those sheeps look adorable). By the way can you see the sheep here? It is not clearly discernible due to the colors.
Tried to recreate one such lovely scene using my yarns and hook. It is not bad, though I feel I could have done a better job. It looks alright in real, actually it looks wonderful, but when I see it through the photograph I could see the hastily done job. I should have blocked the square. Anyway, this had been in my mind for a long time and except for the few faults I am overall happy the way it has turned out.
Also, do you remember those houses that I painted on my old furniture that I blogged about here? If you are a new reader you should take a look at it. I can never get enough of these houses. Oh, also there is this home sweet home. I almost forgot that.
I haven't been baking lately as much as I used to due to weighty issues. I had put on some weight and I am not able to reduce it, though I should admit that I haven't been trying hard enough. So I stayed away from baking for some time as my will power is not strong enough and a major portion of the baked goody ends up in my tummy. This time too I was left with the biggest share of the tangy lemon cake that I baked
because my son hates lemon cake, a fact which was well known to me and which did not deter me from trying out the recipe ;)))
Sorry, I don't have the link. I forgot from where I got the recipe.
Also, I have launched the hobbyhopper facebook page. Now, I am not that facebook-savvy and may take some time to fully understand it. Anyway, I will put it in my sidebar soon and you can "like me" if you like.
Have fun!
Have a happy weekend!
You are just so talented you amaze me. I love your crochet, it always makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,

This is adorable Pradeepa! The photos are great, but I know what you mean about these types of things looking better in real life. Seems like the colors even change sometimes.
ReplyDeleteOwwwww....the lemon cake looks luscious.
I think it looks lovely but things always look better in real life than in a photo, I always find it hard to get a decent photo for things in my blog. That cake looks yummy :)

Phooey! I just typed a long comment and then it wouldn't post. :/
ReplyDeleteI love your little wallhanging. We are our own worst critics. I remember when you did the painted cabinet and your Home Sweet Home. Both projects are great!
When hubby and I were at the textile exhibition the other evening, we were asked to pick our favorite project. Hubby picked a long cross-stitching of row houses. I thought that was rather funny as I used to cross-stitch that kind of stuff. And used to collect little houses for display. but when I decided to change up the living room and put them away, he was very upset.
I love anything with lemon and that loaf cake looks delicious! Hope your day is great. Tammy
This is awesome, you have great talent! i would love to try something like this.
