Recovering...

Hi, how was your weekend? We are enjoying an extended weekend due to holidays on Friday and Monday. Before talking about what I had been doing all these days I would like to thank you for your lovely comments on my tapestry pincushion. Also, thanks for letting me know that this type of pattern is called Bargello. Please excuse me if I haven't visited you in ages, I have my reason.

I was planning to do more tapestry crochet using complicated patterns (you can find many beautiful charts on pinterest) but I had to put away my hooks and yarns for a while due to a minor surgery. I was having this sebaceous cyst on my upper back between the shoulders which started out as a harmless tiny cyst which I had been having for many, many years. It once got inflamed and I got it drained about 10 years ago. I didn't have it for a year or two, then again it appeared. It remained the size of a pea for many years but lately it started to grow. I knew I had to get it removed but I was putting it off. Finally this time my husband dragged me to the hospital and got the surgery done on the 1st of this month. It was a huge cyst, larger than the size of a golf ball. They sent me back with a huge bandage covering the entire upper back. For 10 days I had to stay that way and it was very uncomfortable. Now I have to go everyday to the hospital for getting the wound dressed. I am left with a ghastly, gaping wound (it's like a pit) on my back and I don't know how long it's going to take to heal. If I had known earlier I don't think I would have ever undergone this surgery.

Anyway it's over and I don't have much pain now. I picked my hook yesterday. I wanted to do something, something small for instant gratification. I was in the process of writing some applique patterns for the shop but everything is now put on hold. Maybe I'll just try to finish those. I'll stay away from any big projects for a few more days.

My scrap yarn rug is waiting to be photographed. I think I'll try to get it done today or tomorrow so that I can show it to you in my next post.

Have a great week!

  7. So sorry to hear about the surgery. They must have had to cut deep to remove it all. Glad you finally got it taken care of though and can heal and get back to the business at hand. Pretty little jar topper. I look forward to seeing your scrap rug. Take care! Tammy
