Ripple scarf - new crochet pattern

 




Materials:

Light worsted weight/DK/category 3 yarn approximately 550 meters

H/5 mm crochet hook

Yarn needle

Size:

Approximately 11.5 inches wide and 72 inches long

Abbreviations/Stitches Used:

** - Repeat instructions within asterisks as many times as directed

[ ] - Repeat instructions within parenthesis as a set as many times as directed

ch - chain

st/sts - stitch/stitches

dc - double crochet 

dc3tog - double crochet 3 sts together, dc decrease

Note:

  • The pattern is written in standard American terminology. 
  • For a custom width make chs in multiples of 16 + 4. 
  • The scarf needs blocking for best result.

Instruction

dc3tog skipping a ch between sts: **Yarn over hook, insert hook in next ch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on the hook, skip next ch** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, yarn over hook and pull through all 4 loops on the hook.

Row 1: Ch 68, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, **repeat [ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch] 2 times, ch 1, skip next ch, dc3tog skipping a ch between sts (forms a valley), repeat [ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch] 2 times, ch 1, skip next ch, [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc - forms a peak] in next ch** Repeat from ** to ** 3 more times but finish with 3 dc in the last ch instead of a peak.  Turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st, ch 1, dc in next st, ch 1, dc3tog skipping ch-1 space between sts, **repeat [ch 1, dc in next st] 2 times, ch 1, [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in next ch-2 space, ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st, ch 1, dc in next st, ch 1, dc3tog skipping ch-1 space between sts** Repeat from ** to ** 2 more times, repeat [ch 1, dc in next st] 2 times, ch 1, 3 dc in last st. Turn. 

Repeat row 2 until you reach the desired length.

    1. Sure, it can be. Start with chains in multiples of 16 + 4. Use a heavier yarn and a larger hook
