Instruction
Using orange and holding 2 strands of yarn together ch 4, join
the last ch with a sl st to the 1st ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1st st)
work 11 dc into ring. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch. (12 sts)
Round 2: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, work 2 dc in rest of the sts
around. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch. (24 sts).
Round 3: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, dc in next st, repeat [2 dc in
next st] dc in next st] around. Join (36 sts).
Round 4: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, dc in next 2 sts, repeat [2 dc in
next st] dc in next 2 sts] around. Join (48 sts).
Round 5: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, dc in next 3 sts, repeat [2 dc in
next st] dc in next 3 sts] around. Join (60 sts).
Round 6: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, dc in next 4 sts, repeat [2 dc in
next st] dc in next 4 sts] around. Join (72 sts).
Round 7: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, dc in next 5 sts, repeat [2 dc in
next st] dc in next 5 sts] around. Join (84 sts).
Round 8: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, dc in next 13 sts, repeat [2 dc
in next st] dc in next 13 sts] around. Join (90 sts).
Round 9: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, dc in next 14 sts, repeat [2 dc
in next st] dc in next 14 sts] around. Join (96 sts).
Round 10: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, dc in next 15 sts, repeat [2 dc
in next st, dc in next 15 sts] around. Join (102 sts).
Round 11: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, dc in next 16 sts, repeat [2 dc
in next st, dc in next 16 sts] around. Join (108 sts).
Round 12: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in same st, dc in next 17 sts, repeat [2 dc
in next st, dc in next 17 sts] around. Join (114 sts).
Round 13 to 25: Ch 3
(counts as 1st st), dc in each st around. Join (114 sts). Fasten
off.
Forming pleats:
Take 6 stitch markers. Pin the 1st
and the 12th st together using a stitch marker with the sts in
between pushed to the inner side of the bag forming a pleat, skip next 7 sts,
pin the next st and the 12th st together using another stitch
marker, skip next 7 sts. Repeat it around. You would have placed 6 markers with
7 sts between each marker.
Green trim:
Round 1: Insert hook through the
1st and 12th st where you had placed the 1st
marker, pull green through both the loops, ch 1, sc into both the sts together,
sc in next 4 sts, sc in the next 3 sts working through the folds of the pleat,
**sc in the 1st and 12th st pinned together, sc in next 4
sts, sc in next 3 sts working through the folds of the pleat** Repeat from **
to ** around. Join the last st with a sl st to the 1st st. (48 sts)
Rounds 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each st
around. Join with a sl st to the 1st st.
Handle:
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in same st
and in next 2 sts. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st
across. Turn. (3 sts)
Repeat row 2 until the strap measures about 12 inches. Cut off yarn leaving a long tail. Using a tapestry needle sew the end of the strap to the opposite side of the bag.

Join yarn at the stem of one leaf and make a few chains long enough to wrap around the bag handle and tie a knot. Join the other end of the chains to the stem of the 2nd leaf. Cut off yarn and weave in all the loose ends.
Tie the chain around the handle of the bag.
