This cable stitch scarf would be a great one for men. Though it's not a beginner friendly pattern as it involves stitches worked around the posts (fptr) this stitch could be learned easily by an adventurous crocheter. Otherwise it's an easy 2-row repeat pattern.
Materials Required:
Light worsted weight/category 3 yarn approximately 750 meters
H/5 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle

About 12 inches wide and 75 inches long
Stitches/Abbreviations Used:
** - Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed
ch - chain
st/sts - stitch/stitches
