Assembling the bag

We'll be joining the two set of squares together to form the bag. Place the wrong side of the squares facing each other and work through the double thickness of each st on three sides.  Join yarn at a corner space and work 2 sc, then sc in each st across until the next corner, work [2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc] in the corner, sc in each st across until the next corner, [2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc] in the corner, sc in each st across until the next corner, 2 sc in the corner. Cut off yarn.

Work a row of sl st in each st of the upper edge on both sides starting from one corner and finishing at the end. Then cut off yarn and join yarn at the other side and work sl st in each st starting from one corner and finishing at the next.

Bag strap

Hold 2 strands of yarn together and using a larger hook (4 mm) work chs measuring 50 inches long, work sl st on the back side of each ch. Cut off yarn and weave in the ends.

Insert one end of the strap through a corner space of both squares and sew the end to the strap

Then wrap the yarn a few times around the joint. Repeat on the other side.

Sew 4 tassels to the bottom of the bag
