Cloudy sky shawl - free crochet pattern

 


This pattern is for an elegant crochet lace shawl with a gorgeous design. It's easy consisting of only basic crochet stitches. 

Materials Required:
Fine/category 2 yarn approximately 3.5 balls of 100 gm each
G/4 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle

Size:
The shawl without blocking measures about 20 inches wide and 88 inches long. Length can be adjusted.

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:
** - Repeat instructions within asterisks as many times as needed
[ ] - Repeat instructions within parenthesis as a set as many times as directed
st/sts - stitch/stitches
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet 
tr - treble
3-tr cluster - 3 treble cluster

Note:
The pattern is written in standard American terms.

Customization:
Make initial chains in multiples of 12 + 2 to increase or decrease the width. Length can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the number of rows repeated.

Instruction

Row 1: Ch 98, sc in the 2nd ch from hook, **ch 4, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch** Repeat from ** to ** across. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 5, sc in ch-4 space, **ch 4, sc in next ch-4 space** Repeat from ** to ** across until the last ch-4 space, ch 2, dc in last sc. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in same st, **skip next ch-4 space, [ch 3, 3-tr cluster] 4 times in next ch-4 space, ch 3, skip next ch-4 space, sc in next ch-4 space** Repeat from ** to ** across finishing the row with sc in last space. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 7, skip the first ch-3 space, sc in the next ch-3 space after first cluster, ch 4, [sc, ch 4, sc] in next ch-3 space, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 space, **ch 5, skip next 2 ch-3 spaces, sc in the next ch-3 space after first cluster, ch 4, [sc, ch 4, sc] in next ch-3 space, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 space** Repeat from ** to ** across until the ch-3 space before the last cluster, ch 3, tr in last sc. Turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in same st, **[ch 4, sc in next ch-4 space] 3 times, ch 4, sc in next ch-5 space** Repeat from ** to ** across finishing with sc in last space. Turn.

Row 6: Ch 5, sc in ch-4 space, **ch 4, sc in next ch-4 space** Repeat from ** to ** across until the last ch-4 space, ch 2, dc in last sc. Turn.

Row 7: Ch 5, [3-tr cluster, ch 3] 2 times in the ch-2 space, skip next ch-4 space, sc in next ch-4 space, **[ch 3, 3-tr cluster] 4 times in next ch-4 space, ch 3, skip next ch-4 space, sc in next ch-4 space** Repeat from ** to ** across until you have 2 more spaces left, skip next ch-4 space, ch 3, [3-tr cluster, ch 3, 3-tr cluster, ch 1, tr] in last space. Turn.

Row 8: Ch 5, sc in ch-1 space, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 space, ch 5, skip next 2 ch-3 spaces, sc in next ch-3 space after the 1st cluster, **ch 4, [sc, ch 4, sc] in next ch-3 space, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 space, ch 5, skip next 2 ch-3 spaces, sc in the next ch-3 space after first cluster** Repeat from ** to ** across until the last ch-3 space, ch 4, [sc, ch 2, dc] in last space. Turn.

Row 9: Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 4, sc in next ch-4 space, ch 4, sc in next ch-5 space, **[ch 4, sc in next ch-4 space] 3 times, ch 4, sc in next ch-5 space** Repeat from ** to ** across finishing with sc in last space. Turn.

Repeat rows 2 to 9 until you reach the desired length.
