Golden harvest shawl - free triangle shawl pattern

I have a beautiful triangle shawl pattern for you in this post. I used a lovely gold colored yarn and I think the color, the design as well as the name are all apt for this time of the year. It is worked bottom up and the design is also very easy to remember.

You can watch the video tutorial here

Materials:
Light worsted weight/DK weight yarn approximately 860 meters
H/5 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle

Size:
The shawl has a wingspan of approximately 66 inches and the length is 37 inches excluding the tassels.
However the size of the shawl can be adjusted by adjusting the number of rows.

Stitches/Abbreviations Used:
[ ] - repeat instructions within parenthesis as a set as many times as directed
ch - chain
st/sts - stitch/stitches
sc - single crochet (UK - double crochet)
dc - double crochet (UK - treble)
cluster - double crochet 3 sts worked together in the same st/space

Instruction

Ch 4, join the last ch with a sl st to the 1st ch to form a ring.

Row 1: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), dc into ring, [ch 1, dc into ring] 5 times. You will have 6 ch-1 spaces. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, sc in next ch-1 space, repeat [sc in next st, sc in next ch-1 space] 2 times, [sc, ch 2, sc] in next dc, repeat [sc in next ch-1 space, sc in next st] 3 times. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 4, dc in same st, ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next st, repeat [ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st] until the corner ch-2 space, ch 1, [dc, ch 1, dc (forms the corner st), ch 1, dc] in ch-2 space, ch 1, dc in next st, repeat [ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st] until you have 2 sts left, ch 1, skip next st, [dc, ch 1, dc] in last st. Turn.

Note: In some rows the dc before the corner ch-2 space will be placed differently. For example, in row 3 the dc before the corner space was right before the space but in some rows there might be an extra stitch between the last dc and the corner space. In that case, work ch 1, skip the next st and continue working sts in the corner space. Similarly after the corner space, skip 1 st and continue working the pattern.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st and each ch-1 space until the ch-1 space before the corner st, [sc, ch 2, sc] in corner st, sc in rest of the sts and ch-1 spaces until the end of row. Turn.

Row 5: Ch 4, dc in same st, ch 1, skip next st, cluster in next st, repeat [ch 1, skip next st, cluster in next st] until the st before corner ch-2 space, ch 1, [dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc] in ch-2 space, ch 1, cluster in next st, repeat [ch 1, skip next st, cluster in next st] across until you have 2 sts left, ch 1, skip next st, [dc, ch 1, dc] in last st. Turn.

Row 6: Repeat single crochet row.

Row 7: Repeat row 3.

Row 8: Repeat single crochet row.

Row 9: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in each st across until the ch-2 corner space, 5 dc in ch-2 space (3rd dc will be the corner st), dc in each st across finishing with 3 dc in the last st. Turn.

Row 10: Repeat single crochet row.

Repeat rows 3 to 10 until you reach the desired size. Cut off yarn.

Finishing

Weave in the ends. Block the shawl. Attach tassels to the corners if desired.
