Crochet heart - free pattern

It is Valentine season and it's raining hearts everywhere and I couldn't resist the urge to make one. If you too want to make one here is the pattern. As always I have written the pattern in standard American terms.

Materials you will need:
Worsted weight yarn
Crochet hook size E/3.5 mm
Tapestry needle
Beads, buttons, ribbons for decorating
Fiberfill for stuffing
Stitch marker

Crochet terms used:
st/sts - stitch/stitches
sc - single crochet (UK term is double crochet)
sc2tog - single crochet worked together in 2 consecutive stitches (sc decrease)

Note: Work in continuous rounds without joining at the end of each round. The heart is worked from top down.

Round 1; Make a magic ring and work 6 sc into the ring (or) ch 2 and 6 sc in the 2nd ch (6).
Round 2: 2 sc in each st (12)
Round 3: [sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 6 times (18)
Round 4: [sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times (24)
Round 5: [sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times (30)
Rounds 6 to 8: sc in each st (30). Break off yarn.

Let's call this cap A. You will need to make one more cap which will be cap B. For cap B you don't have to break off yarn after completing round 8.

Round 9 (joining round): work next sc in any st of cap A, sc in next 27 sts of cap A,

move to cap B, skip 2 sts after the joining point in cap B and sc in 28 sts (you will be working sc in 28 sts of each cap, so you'll have totally 56 sts in this round.

Round 10: sc in each st around (56)

Before you proceed further you can sew the gap between the 2 caps. If you are going to hang the heart you will need a loop, so insert both the ends of a piece of yarn or ribbon between the gaps and then close the gap.

Round 11 to 13: sc in each st around (56)
Round 14: [sc in 6 sts, sc2tog] 7 times (49)
Rounds 15 to 17: sc in each st around (49)
Round 18: [sc in 5 sts, sc2tog] 7 times (42)
Rounds 19 and 20: sc in each st around (42)
Round 21: [sc in 4 sts, sc2tog] 7 times (35)
Rounds 22 and 23: sc in each st around (35)
Round 24: [sc in 3 sts, sc2tog] 7 times (28)

You can start stuffing the heart with fiberfill. I used fiberfill along with some unwanted leftover yarns.

Rounds 25 and 26: sc in each st around (28)
Round 27: [sc in 2 sts, sc2tog] 7 times (21)
Rounds 28 and 29: sc in each st around (21)
Round 30: [sc in next st, sc2tog] 7 times (14)
Rounds 31 and 32: sc in each st around (14)
Round 33: sc2tog 7 times (7)

With the help of the back of your hook push in as much filling as possible through the opening.

Rounds 34: sc in each st around (7). Break off yarn leaving a long tail. Using a tapestry needle weave the tail through all the stitches and close the opening.

Decorate as you desire.

I hope there are no errors in the pattern. If you find any please do let me know.

Have a great day!
