Teddy Bear earphone case - free crochet pattern

 

Here is a pattern for a cute teddy bear case to keep your earphones untangled inside your handbag. It's easy and fun to make and would be a lovely gift too!

Materials:
Medium worsted weight yarn in brown and cream
Crochet hook size H/5 mm and G/4 mm
yarn needle
stitch marker
black embroidery skein
2 black beads for eyes

Size
Measures 4 inches across

Stitches/Abbreviations used:
** - repeat instructions within asterisks as many times as directed
[ ] - repeat instructions within parenthesis as a set as many times as directed
ch - chain
st/sts - stitch/stitches
sc - single crochet 
sc2tog/sc3tog - single crochet together in 2/3 consecutive stitches

Instruction

Front

Round 1: Using H/5 mm crochet hook and brown yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in the 2nd ch from hook (6 sts)

Round 2: 2 sc in each st around (12 sc)

Round 3: Repeat [sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 6 times (18 sc)

Round 4: Repeat [sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times (24 sc)

Round 5: Repeat [sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times (30 sc)

Round 6:  sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, Repeat [sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st] 5 times, sc in next 2 sts (36 sc)

Round 7: Repeat [sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times (42 sc). Cut of yarn and weave in the ends.

Back

Semicircle 1

Row 1: Using G/4 mm crochet hook and brown yarn, ch 2, 3 sc in the 2nd ch from hook (3 sts). Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st (6 sc). Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, repeat [sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 3 times (9 sc). Turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, repeat [2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts] 3 times (12 sc). Turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, repeat [sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] 3 times (15 sc). Turn.

Row 6:  Ch 1, repeat [2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts] 3 times (18 sc). Turn.

Row 7: Ch 1, repeat [sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st] 3 times (21 sc). Do not turn.

 Ch 1, work 15 sc across the straight edge of the semicircle. Cut off yarn.

 Semicircle 2

Same as semicircle 1 but work one more row of 15 sc across the straight edge.

Snout

Row 1: Using cream and 4 mm hook, ch 6, 2 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch, 2 sc in last ch. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 4: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next st, sc2tog. Turn. (3 sts)

Work sc around the edge of the snout. Join with a sl st to the beginning of round and cut off yarn. 

Assembling

The curved part of the 1st semicircle will have 23 sts. Using sc sts join the curved part of the 1st semicircle to 23 sts of the full circle. 

The curved part of the 2nd semicircle will have 25 sts. Skip the first 3 sts at the beginning and end of the curved part and join the remaining 19 sts of the 2nd semicircle to the remaining 19 sts of the full circle using single crochet stitches. Using your yarn needle sew the remaining sts at both ends of the semicircle to the full circle. The 2nd semicircle will lie above the 1st semicircle. Cut off yarn and fasten off all the loose ends.

Right ear

Row 1: Join brown yarn at the 3rd st from the joint and using H/5 mm hook, sc in 5 sts. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 2: sc2tog, sc in next st, sc2tog. Turn. (3 sts)

Row 3: sc3tog. Cut off yarn.

Join yarn at the base of the ear and using G/4 mm hook, work sc around the edge of the ear. Cut off yarn.

 Left ear

Join yarn at the 7th st from the other joint and repeat as right ear.

Finishing

Sew the snout to the face and sew beads above the snout for eyes. Embroider nose and mouth.
